Stacey's Bridal Shoot was a two part journey. We first photographed Stacey at Willow Creek Conservatory. Her wedding and reception will be here in a few weeks. Willow Creek has so many wonderful picturesque locations, the covered bridge, the Old Ballenger Mill, and the flowered Gazebos. Even the main house is beautiful.

Kendel and Nick were married at the Cliffs at Glassy Mountain. We had perfect weather, an amazing location and a beautiful bride and groom. Unfortunately, we also had very little time on their wedding day to photograph the couple around the beautiful mountain top. Kendel and Nick agreed to get back into their wedding attire and do another photo shoot! The results? WOW!!! What a wonderful shoot!!!! What do you think?!!??

Lindsay's wonderful Bridal Session! Lindsay wanted part of the bridal session to be on her fiance's property. So we headed to the Newberry area of SC. We started in a field of Sunflowers that was gorgeous. On the same property, across the road, we went to a small pond. We photographed in front of the quaint pond for a while before sending her afloat in a small boat that was onshore there. (Were we on the set of the Notebook??!!!) We finished up on Pine Island with some great shots of Lindsay at Lake Murry. It was an all day shoot, but well worth the time...

Old Sheldon Church ruins - Beaufort, SC

I stopped for a slight detour on the way back from our wonderful Wedding in Hilton Head. I had to check out Sheldon Church ruins. Sheldon Church has lain in ruin for more than 120 years. Its gable roof, pediment, windows, and interior have disappeared, but the classic simplicity of its design still remains. During the Revolution, the Patriots are believed to have stored gun powder in it. In 1779 the church was burned by a detachment which according to tradition, was commanded by the flamboyant local Tory, Andrew Deveaux. Rebuilt in 1826, the church was again burned by Sherman's men in 1865. The ruins are nevertheless beautiful!! I hope I get to shoot a bridal or wedding here someday!!! I had a hard time leaving the site...

Colby and Scottie and a really busy weekend. Rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, formal photos, a thunderstorm, a wedding and a wonderful fun reception. They still had energy to meet us on the beach at 8:30am the next morning to play! We love day after shoots on the beach! The morning after their wedding at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa, we met the happy couple on the beach for a short fun shoot on the beach. We got some wonderful shots!

Sadly, the beach side portion got rained out. When I say rained, I mean thunder-stormed in a major way. But the reception was incredible and the day after shoot on the beach was too perfect.

Then they were off to their honeymoon at the Excellence Playa Mujeres resort in Mexico. Have fun!

Kendel got ready for the wedding down at the Cliffs at Glassy Mountain Country Club. Then we started some photos at the Chapel with the ladies. Once we had plenty of photos of Kendel and the bridesmaids, Nick and the groomsmen arrived for their turn. After the wedding we had time for lots of fun shots with the whole bridal party. Nick showed off with his awesome car that he and Kendel drove to the Loom for the their reception. The Loom was ready for us and Kendel and Nick started their first dance together as husband and wife. It was moving to see two people so in love and into each other. Another amazing wedding day for us at Touch of Grace; we're hopeless romantics...

Katie's Bridal Shoot - Clemson University / Greer Municipal Complex

Katie wanted an Upstate Wide bridal shoot, so we started at Clemson University's Death Valley Stadium. After a few shots all around an inside the stadium, we moved to Tillman Hall and finally the botanical gardens. That would be enough to wear out any bride in this hot weather but Katie was still ready to continue! So we shot part 2 of the shoot in Greer next to their new Municipal Complex. Katie was amazing and the shots we got were one in a million! What do you think?

Monica and Matt were married at Larkins on the River in a beautiful ceremony behind the Larkins Restaurant, "Larkin’s Courtyard". Then we moved the Wyche Pavilion for the reception. Orange Krush was an amazing band and really gave a wonderful performance. We photographed away as a brand new, beautiful married couple danced in a beautiful venue as the last rays of daylight waned.

Sally and Mark wanted to have their engagement photo session in Falls Park in Greenville. We started at the Wyche Pavilion near Larkins on the River and worked our way around the park with their beautiful greyhound - Champ. It was a hot day and Champ let us know that his paws were too hot for the park sidewalk. This wonderful couple was all about each other and that is just the way we like it for our engagement shoots. The photo session should be about them, being with each other. It was a wonderful shoot and we finished up before Champ, and the rest of us, melted in the sun. We had a great time with them...I just love it when a couple is lovey and not afraid to show it in front of the camera.

Jillian and Nick were married at St Anthony's Catholic Church in the West Side of Greenville SC. After a wonderful ceremony, the beautiful couple joined me for a brief visit at the Greenville Drive game. Then it was on to the HUGE reception at Zen, in Greenville, just a short walk from the Fluor Field. With the live Infinity Show Band from Atlanta, all you can eat Sushi and over 350 guests, the party was on! We even had a visit from Jeff Dunham, a famous ventriloquist you may have seen on the Comedy Channel. Nick and Jillian danced the night away and the party didn't end till after 1am!

Kendel and her family met us at the Cliffs at Glassy Mountain Chapel for her bridal session. We started our shoot in the chapel itself and then moved on to the wonderful views from the cliff side. The Cliffs at Glassy Mountain Chapel is a wonder to behold. A small chapel, capable of holding over 200 people, perched on the top of a mountain cliff side. Kendel was absolutely beautiful and we picked the perfect weather for her shoot. (After having to postpone the shoot already due to rain weeks before.) Colby and Scottie are getting married at Hilton Head later this summer, but we traveled down to Atlanta GA to shoot their engagement session in Piedmont Park. They got engaged in Piedmont Park and wanted to make their shoot even more meaningful by allowing us to photograph them all over the park. This park is HUGE! As we began the shoot, we started to realize how bit the Dogwood Festival going on at the same time was.

Colby and Scottie gave us the grand tour of the park. We shot in several locations and enjoyed the wonderful weather. They were wonderful and we all had fun as we got great shots of this loving couple...

We wondered at first if the rain was going to stay away after a few drops fell here and there, but the weather turned beautiful for the wedding. We had a great time shooting this wedding at the Gassaway Mansion today. It is always a pleasure shooting weddings there. We shot this wedding with Mike & Tammy from Unforgettable Wedding Vidography. They do amazing work!

I loved it when the Clemson University Tiger came out with the bride and groom! What a great time!!

This was the first time working with Leanne from Events By Lady Lee. She did an amazing job planning the wedding as well as executing those plans today.

Holly's Cakes was the wedding cake vendor. And as usual, her cake was amazing. The icing was perfect. I cannot think of another way to put it but pure confection perfection.

The menu provided by the Gassaway tonight was fantastic. Pork tenderloin, Shrimp and fruit.

Tiffany and Richard wanted to have their engagement session someplace out of the ordinary. We have been dying to do a photoshoot at Oconee Station Falls ever since we found it last fall. It is so easy to get to. No hike, just a bit of a walk from the road in Oconee County. Tiffany and Richard really enjoyed the waterfall, beautiful forest and beaver pond. They really enjoyed each other, the views and occasionally remembered we were there for some photos too!

We all enjoyed our time there and wrapped up the shoot just as the sky fell. Perfect timing!

Anniversary Trash the Dress / Tux

John and Cheryl wanted to celebrate their first wedding anniversary with a photo session in their full wedding attire. They love their horses Maggie and Two Socks and their land they own has been in their family for generations. The property was given to their family 227 years ago as a 6000 acre land grant from the Continental congress for service during the American Revolution. It has been passed down ever since. John's grandfather and his three siblings were born in that house and worked that land during the depression and now he farms it and hunts on it.

So their photo session included many of the loves of their lives. Each other, there beloved horses and the land that has been a part of their heritage for generations. We loved showing these two love birds doing what they love best, being with each other...

National Magazine Covershoot

We got a call the other day from TMCnet.com. They asked us to shoot their March cover shoot and article photos for Internet Telephony magazine. So we went over to NETXUSA INC in Greenville to shoot their company president, Rick Boone. The shoot covered him at the company HQ and a few shots of him at the Falls Park waterfalls for the article. We were honored to be able to shoot for a national magazine and hope we get to do more in the future!

Reedy River / Furman Engagement Session

in and Richard's Engagement Photo Session started out in downtown Greenville SC at the Wyche Pavillon. After following the Reedy River down to the waterfall and back, we headed to Furman for a few more photos. It was a chilly, gloomy day out with no sun in sight. But Erin and Richard had fun with each other as we fired away.

Brits Brothers Gym and Quaker Steak and Lube hosted the first Upstate Fight League. Touch of Grace had a great time photographing a few of the fighters from Brits Brothers Gym for their advertising poster. These guys were so much fun to shoot. They might look big and tough but if you promise to keep a secret they were all exremely nice and very easy going. You would never guess it when they are in the ring fighting!

Yes, this was a MAJOR change of pace from shooting our weddings, but it was fun!

Twigs Wedding and Reception

Samantha and Joshua were married at Twigs, near Haywood Mall in Greenville SC. It was a beautiful and chilly day, but Twigs had the heaters burning and the place encased in plastic to keep us all warm. We caught the final touches to the dress as mom zipped it up and sprayed her hair. We had a few minutes until the guys showed so we did some shots before Samantha wanted to hide out. After a few shots of the Groom and groomsmen, the ceremony started. Samantha looked beautiful and Joshua was smiling big as she walked down the aisle to him. It was a wonderful ceremony and a great reception.

Kristen and Richard's Wedding at Larkins

We met Kristen and Richard over at the Hampton Inn & Suites on the Reedy River. They had rooms two floors above / below each other making for an awesome pre-wedding photo. They still didn’t want to see each other before the wedding so we had them walk over to Larkins one group at a time. (I love our radio system.)

Kristen and Richard were married at Larkins on the River. As the after ceremony photos began outside, we could see the Greenville Christmas Parade marching over the bridge in the distance. It was so cold out; but we all managed to get some great shots. The reception, on the third floor of Larkins, was a wonderful Christmas decorated reception. PartyMakers Entertainment once again kept the party going for us. It was a cold night but it was a very warm reception for all to enjoy.

Dunya and Ryan were married at the stately Hilton in Greenville. We had the privilege of photographing their engagement just a few months ago.

The bride was coiffed and the groom was dapper, eager to start their new life together. Many of the bride's family had to travel great distances to attend, and many of the guests were coworkers of the bride and groom, where they met.

Dunya, from Iraq, surprised the groom with a traditional belly dancer!

Cherish the Dress - Karen's "Trash the Dress" Session

Karen's Wedding was in May of this year. It was a beautiful ceremony in downtown Greenville, SC. The reception was at the Westin Poinsett Hotel. You may recall the wonderful shot I got of her on the roof of the Poinsett 20 min before her wedding was to start. Well, we wanted to do a Cherish the Dress session. We are starting to call them Cherish the Dress instead of Trash the Dress since we barely get the dress dirty or a little wet sometimes.
When deciding a location for a Cherish the Dress session, we try to make it meaningful to the bride. Since so much of her wedding had to do with the Poinsett Hotel, we took her to Poinsett Bridge, the oldest still standing bridge in South Carolina, for her post wedding Cherish the Dress Session! It was perfect. The bridge and the park surrounding it were just past the height of fall color, and provided a vivid canvas for her pictures. First we hung a mirror in the nearby forest for some unique fairy-tale-ish shots. Then we moved to the bridge itself for some more amazing photos.

Sarah returns for a Cherish the Dress Session

Sarah, our Caeser's Head wedding bride, returned to do a "Cherish the Dress" session, a bridal shoot where we're not so worried about keeping the dress pristine for a future wedding. We took her to one of our favorite spots, Willow Creek Conservatory in Campobello, SC. We took full advantage of the covered bridge and the old Ballenger Mill on the property.

Afterwards, it was time to get the dress a little dirty! The middle of a dam in the late afternoon sun is an flattering location for a beautiful redhead!

We took Lindsay and her fiance Jason to the mountains for a memorable engagement photo session. We started off with some studio shots, then moved to Bald Rock and a waterfall up in northern Greenville county.

With the perfect framing of the fall leaves, and with Table Rock and the Carolina foothills in the background, it was the perfect backdrop for a incredible shoot.

We took them to a well known waterfall, and due to the recent rains, it actually had a decent amount of water! We took advantage of this and got some great shots in front of it.

Lindsay and Jason are a great couple and we wish them all the best. Look for their wedding shots in the coming months!

High School Marching Band State 2A and 4A

Touch of Grace Photography had the honor of being the offical photographers for the South Carolina Band Directors Association Division AA/AAAA State Marching Championship at Batesburg-Leesville High School. We worked from 5am till well after midnight! Our photographer, Dana, was in heaven having been a band member and competing in this very competition when she was in High School.

Had a great time shooting another Trash The Dress session today. Shot today with Mike from Unforgettable Wedding Video. He asked me to join him to photograph one of his brides. It was great to see him in action and learn what other photographers do for a Trash the Dress session. Honestly, we didn't get a chance to trash the dress as much as I thought we would, but just the ability to not worry about it getting a little dirty allowed us to get creative and artsy!

Upstate History is made!

Upstate History is made, well, at least for two lucky people. Michelle and Andy were married at the Upstate History Museum in Downtown Greenville. We had the pleasure of photographing Andy and his Groomsmen at the always beautiful Falls Park before the ceremony. While Michelle and her lovely attendants were busy getting ready!

This is truly a unique wedding venue, with its historic building facades and horseshoe staircase. Michelle and Andy enjoyed their wedding day, and all of their family and friends with them.

The reception was also held there, with enough food to feed a small army! The guests were up to the challenge, and the revelry continued into the night, until the happy couple had to leave to get some rest before the honeymoon!

Ballerina Katie

Katie, a dancer at Southern Dance Connection, allowed us to do a ballet shoot with her at our studio and at a local warehouse that looked really unique. We stared with some great dance shots and a photo of her and all the ballet shoes she has gone through in her life. Then we moved to a really neat location that had some graffiti. It was a fun day with ballet!

Grace United Methodist Church anniversary

Grace United Methodist Church celebrated it's 50th anniversary today. The most challenging photo was of the entire congregation in front of the church. You can't imagine the size of the ladder I climbed out in the middle of the grass to take this shot. I am talking about having time to think about the fall before I hit if I had slipped. I mean, TALL! But it was worth it!

Shawnell and James' Wedding

Shawnell and James were married at Mt. Mirah Baptist Church right near the heart of downtown Spartanburg, SC. The bride had reletives come from all over, and there were many attendants at this wedding. The groom and his entourage arrived looking suave in a limo, and there were so many out of towners that a bus helped with ferrying guests around.

After the ceremony, the couple celebrated their reunion with their church family in the fellowship hall adjacent to the sanctuary. Then, everyone adjourned to Carolina Country Club a few miles away to party into the night. The bride had arranged for many little touches, and we made sure to document all of their special day. We made especially sure to capture them out on the dock in the sunset!

The Allen Family stopped by Touch of Grace's portrait studio in Greer for some family photos. We started in the studio and then moved outside since the weather was so beautiful.

Madison and Matt tie the knot on a rainy Saturday

Madison and Matt were married on a rainy fall day in Holly Springs, SC. The happy couple wed at the large, historic Holly Springs Baptist Church. We took their spots at each side, and up in the balcony so we could cover all the angles for this important event. The bride was radiant, and excited at how many people came to see she and her betrothed tie the knot in her hometown.

After the ceremony, the reception was held at the popular Links O' Tryon clubhouse. The skies had been threatening early, but once the reception got under way, the torrent that had been a possibility became a reality. The tents kept the guests dry on the lovely deck, and the excellent buffet was served inside while the all important Clemson game played on the TVs, since the bride and groom are both Clemson graduates! We loved shooting their engagement at Clemson earlier in the year.

Vanessa and Jawone married at the Ryan Nicholas Inn

Vanessa and Jawone's wedding at the Ryan Nicholas Inn was amazing!!! We started with capturing the final touches of Vanessa putting on her wedding dress and touching up her hair and makeup in the bridal suite. While Dana captured this, Christopher was shooting the Jawaone and his Groomsmen outside in the overcast daylight getting their fun photographs. We moved Vanessa to the Grand Staircase for some pre-ceremony shot with her bridesmaids. As the time for the wedding drew near, we used our radios to make sure the couple never saw each other despite using the same staircase for the guys a few minutes after Vanessa. The Inn is so detailed and ornate, I just can't get over how beautifully done it is.

As the wedding went on, I found so many amazing angles and reflections that I HAD to capture, it was hard to narrow them down for the blog!

After the wedding exit, we had the introduction of the wedding party as they descended the grand staircase. This was followed directly by the first dance and toasts by the best man, maid of honor and the fathers of Vanessa and Jawone.

We stole the couple away as the hall was transformed into a party so that we could do our formal photography out front. Then it was on to the party....

In the end it was a beautiful and memorable wedding. I look forward to shooting at the Ryan Nicholas Inn again soon. Vanessa and Jawone have a bright future ahead of them...

Shawnell's Damp Bridal Session - Greenville Downtown Hyatt

Shawnell had been putting her bridal off for a while. When we do bridal sessions, we like to do them about two months or more before the wedding. Shawnell was down to two weeks before the wedding! We finally planned our session for Furman and Downtown Greenville. The day of the bridal, IT RAINED! We wanted to reschedule, but Shawnell was determined to shoot. With help, we arranged to use the Hyatt Downtown Greenville for the session. We got some wonderful images, but we love getting outside too, so we did a very quick session with one of our lighting diffusers that looks like a pretty white umbrella. What do you think?

Madison's Bridal Shoot

Madison and Matt had their engagement session at Clemson University, where they both graduated from last year. Madison is a Clemson girl for sure, but when it came time to do her Bridal Shoot, she went with Furman University's beautiful campus. We started near the fountains near the University's entrance way and then moved to the beautiful Rose Garden.

Sarah and Joseph Wedding at Caesars Head

Sarah and Joseph wanted a small wedding in a grand venue. What better place than Caesar's Head? A granit outcropping atop the dramatic Blue Ridge Escarpment, it offers a breathtaking view. We arrived early, before the guests and bridal party, and set up our podium and arch for the ceremony.

After the wedding, we went to Bald Rock for some additional photos before everyone was off to the reception...

Ballerina Katelyn

Katelyn came to our studio for some dance photos. After torchering her a little to hold ballet poses, we took her to an abandoned warehouse I know about for some more edgier shots. I love how they turned out. I can just imagine a ballerina, wanting some privacy and great acoustics, coming here to practice...

Trash the Dress

Dana had fun doing a Trash the Dress Session with us. What is Trash the Dress? It is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography.

Usually brides decide to have pictures taken on a beach, but other locations include city streets, mountaintops, rooftops, garbage dumps, fields, and abandoned buildings.

Dana is enjoying Lake Keowee's waterfall as a beautiful location for a Trash the Dress session.

Gayle and Ricky's Wedding

Gayle and Ricky were married at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church on Woodruff Rd. It is a beautiful church. We usually start shooting about two hours before the wedding, but this time we couldn't. The church was double booked! As we entered the church to start our wedding, the previous wedding was still leaving. It made for a very interesting start. After the wedding service, we took the entire wedding party to downtown Greenville and shot photos in front of the Reedy River Falls. We attracted a lot of attention for sure. After a bit of shooting, we surcomed to the heat and moved on to the reception at the Hejaz Shriner's Temple in Maudlin for a grand reception.

Vanessa's Bridal Shoot

Vanessa met us at the ever beautiful Furman University for her bridal shoot. We almost cancelled the shoot because it was drizzling, rainy and overcast. Wet ground is scary when it comes to keeping a wedding dress clean. We do our best to show off the bride in her beautiful dress, yet protect the dress from dirt and damage.
Vanessa did get a chance to do something different at her shoot - she got to use a HUGE umbrella. See! There is an upside to a rainy day photoshoot after all!!!
The umbrella is actually a shoot through lighting diffuser, but I thought it looked pretty as a rain umbrella. What do you think??

The rain stopped enough to shoot over at Furman's Rose Garden. Wow is that place blooming!!

Madison and Matt's engagment shoot

We headed down to Clemson (Go Tigers!) for Madison and Matt's engagment shoot. We had fun photographing them on the exact spot where they were engaged! Madison and Matt are both Clemson Grads and were excited when we told them that we had access to Death Valley to take some shots with the Rock and on the Field. They are very much in love and it made for some beautiful and romantic moments that we were able to capture.

Dunya and Ryan Engagement

Dunya and Ryan's Engagement Shoot took us downtown to Reedy River Park. We got some lovley shots around the flowers and below the bridge before deciding to go back to our studio for some more formal shots. Their wedding is in November, so they have lots of time to plan out their wedding.
